Shocker Baseball Fall World Series Continues Thursday and Saturday
The Fall World Series continues Thursday with a 3pm first pitch. The fifth and final game of the series is set for Saturday at 1pm. Admission to all games is a canned food donation at the gate.
Kevin Saal is the Featured Guest on Presidential Podcast
Shocker Athletic Director Kevin Saal is the featured guest on WSU President Rick Muma's latest episode of his podcast, "Forward Together." The podcast was published Friday, Oct. 14, and can be heard on Spotify, Stitcher, Google Podcasts, Amazon Podcasts and Apple Podcasts (iTunes) or on the Forward Together Podcast page. There is also a video version of the podcast availableon YouTube.
The "Forward Together" podcast publishes each month and features a variety of guests from throughout Shocker Nation that highlight the people and priorities that guide WSU.
Shocker Athletics was also highlighted on the podcast in episode 3, when President Muma interviewed men's basketball head coach Isaac Brown. Check that out here or on your podcast app.

Oct. 17, 2008 - Northern Iowa takes a 2-1 lead before the 14th-ranked Shockers rally to win 3-2 in front of a crowd of 4,017 at Koch Arena. Emily Stockman leads WSU with 15 kills and adds 18 digs. Kelly Broussard records a career-high 43 digs, two off the Shocker record.
Oct. 17, 2015 - Julia Schiller defeats Kansas' Smith Hinton 5-7, 7-6(1), 7-5 in the round of 16 in the ITA Central Region Championships in Stillwater, Okla.
Oct. 19, 1991 - WSU's Mornay Annandale wins the Iowa State Classic with a time of 24 minutes, 53 seconds in the 5-mile race.
Oct. 20, 2017 - Emily Hiebert's 49 assists moves her into second place on Wichita State's career list in a 3-0 win over Cincinnati at Koch Arena. Abbie Lehman hits .441 with 18 kills and Gabi Mostrom registers a career-high 16 digs for the 21st-ranked Shockers.
Oct. 22, 1949 - Jimmy Nutter scores six touchdowns in a 91-0 win over Northern State (S.D.) at Veterans Field in front of 8,500 fans. Anton Houlik starts the scoring for the Shockers with a 94-yard kickoff return to open the game. Nutter scores on an punt returns of 84 and 45 yards, runs of 21 and 18 and pass receptions of 18 and 20 yards. Quarterback Ed Kriwiel throws three touchdown passes and adds a 60-yard rushing score.
Oct. 22, 1983 - Wichita State defeats West Texas State 31-30 after trailing by 23 points late in the third quarter at Cessna Stadium. Running back Eric Denson's 55-yard run with 2:57 remaining in the third quarter starts the 24-point rally. WSU goes ahead on a 17-yard flanker reverse by Reuben Eckels and Denson's two-point conversion. Denson runs for 217 yards on 19 carries to set the school's single-game record.
